Folks,
I currently reside in Connecticut and I recently completed my 5 years as a Permanent Resident. I would like to apply for my naturalization but I know I am going to be moving to a different part of the country in 2 or 3 months. I am pretty sure the process of Naturalization will not complete in 2 or 3 months so I currently face two options.
1. Apply for my N-400 in Connecticut. Complete fingerprinting in Connecticut. Move to a different state in 2 months. Ask for transfer of application to new state so interview will be in new state.
2. Move to the new state in 2 months. Apply for my N-400 3-months after that date (total 5 months from now) and go through the entire process in the new state.
I am currently inclined to start the process and follow Option-1 so I can complete the naturalization process earlier. Can anyone see a problem with doing it this way? I have read some posts describing the transfer process as problematic. Can anyone offer some first hand experience with a transfer?
thanks in advance..
