N-400 Part 12 Question 44 - Confused.

Hi I'm filling out the N-400 form and not sure how to answer Part 12 question 44. I am a male who had a green card when I was aged 18-26, which I surrendered. I never lived in the US during that time. I was at University in U.K. and employed afterwards in U.K. and an overseas posting but had a re-entry permit to avoid having green card taken away from me. Now I'm 41 and about to apply for citizenship after having a different green card for 5 years. So do I answer yes or no for that question since I technically never lived in US? Any advice would be much appreciated.

This doesn't really make sense. It's not possible to get a green card if you were never in the US. To become a US permanent resident, you either go through Consular Processing abroad or Adjustment of Status in the US. If you went through Consular Processing abroad, you get an immigrant visa. Having an immigrant visa doesn't make you a permanent resident. You have to enter the US with the immigrant visa to become a US permanent resident. If you went through Adjustment of Status in the US, you must have been in the US in order to apply for Adjustment of Status.
