I am hoping someone will be able to relate with our case. I am helping my mother with her N-400 application, she qualified for the the 55/15 exception (At the time of filing your Form N-400, you are 55 years of age or older and have lived in the United States as a permanent resident for periods totaling at least 15 years. You do not have to take the English language test, but you do have to take the civics test in the language of your choice.).
Her timeline is as follows:
4/21/2016 - Sent N-400 Application
5/6/2016 - USCIS received application
6/6/2016 - Got letter for FP
6/14/16 - FP Done
After this we did not hear from them, for about a year but it was okay because I kept checking the processing time line every other week and they were still not at her acceptance date. Meanwhile there wasn't a day that she would not study her questions, watch the videos, she even learned how to use a smartphone so that she could practice the questions online. The day finally came that it was past her processing time so i sent in inquiry.
03/02/2017 - Sent in an inquiry for "taking longer that processing time"
03/03/2017 - Received an email letting us know that they were looking into
03/04/2017 - She was scheduled for her interview
03/26/2017 - Went for her interview, but the USCIS agent told her that they had not given him her complete file, but that he still had enough information to continue with the interview. By the grace of God she passed her test but the officer told her that they were not holding ceremonies that day. But that she should not worry because she would get a letter in the mail letting her know when to come back.
When i looked at the paper that the USCIS agent gave her it said that she had passed the test but underneath he checked of the option of "application will be recommended for approval" should i be concerned about that.
It has been 3 months now and we are still playing the waiting game. I think what concerns me the most is that when i go online to check the status of her case it states that the interview has been scheduled.
I don't know if i should keep waiting or if i should send in another inquiry. I don't know if the delay is because her N-400 had an exception or if its something else.
I'm hoping someone will be able to relate to this case, and share their experience.
