N400 application pending while applyig for home loan

Hi,
Did anyone have an experience of buying a house while your green card is expired and have a pending N400 application?
Now my home loan application is pending, I am now not sure if I can still be approved with our loan until I get my citizenship.
I am expecting to receive the interview appointment hopefully somewhere around December.

Technically, your Greencard never expires, even if the expiry date on green card states that, your status is still permanent resident. depending on your loan officer, they may not understand your situation, just tell them what your status is.
But do not claim as US citizen under any circumstances.
