  • Documentation Requirements for Interview

    Hi all,

My case status updates so far:

    3/16/17 N-400 application mailed
    3/27/17 N-400 application received
    04/04/17 Fingerprinting appointment
10/10/17 Received text notification regarding scheduling of interview (on 11/16/17)

I applied based on the 5 year rule even though I am married to a US citizen since 2010. It was recommended by someone in this forum.

I would like to know what all I should bring to the interview besides the items listed below:

    1. green card,
    2. interview letter from USCIS,
    3. current and expired passports to show proof of travel outside the U.S.,
    4. 2 passport photos (some people mentioned in this forum that they were asked for these),
    5. tax returns/transcripts for the last 5 years
    6. birth certificate of children listed on the N-400 form
    7. marriage certificate (just in case they ask for proof of marital status or other info documented on the N-400 form)
    8. state issued ID (required per their checklist)

Can you please recommend anything else that I should bring to the interview (just in case), other than what I have already listed above? I am trying to cover all my bases. Thank you!

What? They texted you as in SMS messaged you for an interview?? I guess I'll have to be on the lookout if so!

With respect to documentation, I thought they would be mailing you a notification and on that notification, it will advise you to bring the documentation needed during the interview... I guess bringing more won't hurt...

If you have any citations (such as speeding), I would bring those too.

      Thanks for your feedback!

They texted me because I created an account on their website to monitor the case. So whenever there is a change in status I get a text notification stating the same.

The interview notification they mailed has a list of items to bring however, I recall reading on this forum that some people were asked to provide items not listed on that notification (e.g., 2 passport sized pictures). I was merely trying to enquire if there is something else that I should bring to be on the safe side.

No, I don't have any traffic citations or other such issues however, thanks for the awareness.
