  • Determine whether if someone has naturalized

    Hello,

Ex-wife testifies in court proceedings that she is an Indian Citizen. However, she would have been eligible to apply for naturalization in 2016, and I have every reason to believe she has indeed naturalized to US Citizenship. We got the GC together, so I'm naturalized citizen myself.

Is there any place where a record of names of people who naturalized, is kept and available for public access?

Note that I'm not talking about the immigration records and paperwork itself, which is protected and requires special application and consent to obtain. I'm only asking if there is a publicly available record of who became naturalized citizens in a given USCIS office area.

Also note, county/state voter rolls are not of help if a naturalized individual had not enrolled in the first place.

Any one in the know, to respond please?

You can call the USCIS office in your area. I am not sure that they can help you, but just ask.

The easiest way is to just ask your ex-wife.

      Why does it matter?

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

a very odd question to ask. How would that affect your life in any way? Was she testifying against you? That if she is indeed a naturalized US Citizen, that her testimony would be rejected as she did not disclose that fact?

A public record will be available down the road. Currently, USCIS Genealogy Program provides copies of C-files from September 27, 1906 to March 31, 1956
