Hello,
I've been an LPR in the US since May, 2004. I was eligible for citizenship in May, 2009 but did not opt to do so at the time (big mistake!).
Between June, 2009 - February, 2015 I was out of the country pursuing my undergraduate degree (I did not want to go into debt). I had three separate re-entry permits for the duration (2009-2011, 2011-2013, 2013-2015). I stayed outside the US for more than a year which broke my continuous residency on 3 separate occasions. I had every intention of returning to the US, however. My folks were still here at the time (and still are), and I always had access to our residence.
I finally got back to the United States on February 3, 2015. I went on vacation abroad for 2 months in 2016, and 1 month in 2017, but was otherwise here in the United States.
Will I be eligible for the 4 years 1 day rule and apply for citizenship on, let say, February 10, 2019? I will have been physically present in the United States for 45 months and abroad for 15 months (12 in '14-'15, 2 in '16, and 1 in '17).
Thanks in advance!
