  • Remove Conditions from GC after Divorce

Hey everyone. Just was wonder if anybody go through this here could help with advise. I will be short.
So, I moved to United States on K1 visa back in 2014, me and my husband got married in 2014 also. I got my first GC and we lived happy marriage together. After 3 years of marriage when time has come to file Removing Conditions from green card, we filed it jointly in July 2017. In five months we decided to divorce (after 3.5 years of marriage) for different reasons, there was a reasons during this years, for not to make this massage long, I ain't gonna say a word about this reasons. My husband said that he will file divorce, and then he moved away, I am still waiting for divorce papers, he don't respond phone calls or text massages. So I'm not sure whats going on at the moment. But, I will leave this sentimental cryings and come back to citizenship. What should or shouldn't do at this moment? Wait till I get my citizenship?

You need to wait until you receive an interview notice for your I-751. It is possible that you might be approved without an interview, in which case you can receive your 10-year card and move on with your life.

On the other hand, if you receive an inteview notice and your husband is not available for an interview, you should go to the interview anyway and explain, with evidece, the status of your marital relationship. You will probably be told to re-file your I-751 based on a broken marriage pending divorce.

Thank you! I appreciate your help with provided information. Thats what I though. Yes, divorce should be pending till April-May 2018 and I cross my fingers if I will receive my 10 year old GC before that period.
