  • Time as a resident USCIS district or state (N-400)

    Hello all,

I'm now applying for my citizenship and was wondering if you please help me clarify a doubt.

When filling the N-400 a requirement is that "Time as a Resident in a USCIS District or State" - Most people must live in the USCIS district or State in which they are applying for at least 3 months before applying. A district is a geographical area defined by USCIS and served by one of the USCIS “District Offices.”

I'm currently abroad and will come back to the US after ~5 months, yet continue to lease the same property without interruption since July 2013 (+4 years). Can I go ahead and apply as my legal residency has not changed in the last 3 months or do I have to be physically present at my legal residency for at least 3 months prior to submitting my naturalization.

Thank you very my in advance. Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards.
