OCI Application procedure

Hi,

I have a question regarding OCI application procedure. In the website for Houston consulate, it specifies that an additional $15 should be sent for return mailing charges along with self addressed envelope (section 3.ii). Now towards the end in section 5 under 'CLARIFICATIONS' it mentioens that$15 is for FEDEDX. So what is the purpose of the self addresses envelope, since anyway they are going to use FEDEX envelope.

Can someone answer this.

Is that really a big deal? Enclose a self addressed envelope and be done with it... Duh?

$15 is for the mailing..no envelope needed

I think you should just send MO of $15. They will take care of envelope and everything. You dont need to send envelope.

First of all, OCI process takes some time. So I want to make sure that I have filed the application properly and there is no reason for the Indian consulate to return it for any reason. Like this case, I was not sure the rationale behind the self addressed envelope.

Anyway, I sent a fedex envelope with my address on it along with the MO.

Has anyone got their OCI from US?

What is the approx timeframe now?

Can't comment much on Indian Consulate in Houston, but Indian Embassy in Washington DC instructs people to send the money order for $15. And they will send whatever they need to send by USPS Express Mail (PIO Card, Indian Passport, OCI etc.)
