  • Can we take the child to the Oath ceremony ?

    Forum

We have been to scheduled for the Oath ceremony & wanted to know whether we need to take the child also .. ( the invitation does not inform anything about this ). The reason am asking is , we are having a last name change & it will affect the childs last name too ?

    Child to the ceremony

Family of those who are being naturalized is allowed to sit through the ceremony, though they are asked to be seated seperately.

What has the name change got to do with the ceremony? Am I missing something here?

While filing the N-400 application, I had opted for Name Change & During the Interview, the officer had mentioned that there will be a letter for me to change the 'Name'. Now, I have recieved a letter for the Oath , I am thinking that the name change be at the same court before the Oath.

Since the name change will affect my child also, so wanted to make sure whether to take him or not ? Maybe , I have to file a N-600 for him later on..

      Any Sugestions ??
