  • Time between Naturalization Interview Date and Oath ceremony Date in Dallas TX

    Hi Guys,

We are scheduled for a Naturalization interview on June 11th. We have planned a travel to India on June 2nd I have 2 questions.

    1) Can we reschedule our Naturalization interview? Please, Advice. (we are planning to postpone our trip to India if needed) what are the odds?

    2) We were also thinking to postpone our trip to June 12th and return on July 8th, so that we can attend our interview on June 11th. Now we are worried what if we receive the Oath Ceremony Date when we are out of the country, and also the oath cermoney taking place between June 12th and July 8th while we are away.

    3) What is the typical time between Naturalization Interview Date and Oath ceremony Date in Dallas TX in this time of 2018?

    Please advice

    Thank you.

    1) Yes, you can request for a new interview date by writing to the local field office. However, Dallas is crazy slow right now with scheduling interviews, so you might end up waiting for a very long time.

2&3) Fortunately, when it comes to scheduling administrative ceremonies, Dallas is not slow at all right now. Administrative ceremonies are scheduled as soon as the interview is over. If you are not changing your name, you will be scheduled for oath ceremony the day you pass the interview or the next day and take the oath within that week or the week after, at the latest.

If you pass the interview on 6/11, you'll most likely take the oath before 6/27 (if you are not changing your name).
Then, you can pay $60 extra and expedite your passport application at the passport agency/center.
