  • Ciizenship Interview without electronic File Transfer

I applied for citizenship in Boston and then moved to Dallas. The file got transferred and my interview was scheduled and I went for the interview on 7/25. The IMO said that the physical file got transferred and she had the n400 that I filed when I was in boston and she did the interview. I passed the civics and english test. We went over the n400 application and got everything corrected including the new address. At the end of the interview the IMO said that she cannot make the decision now as the file did not get transferred electronically. I did not understand what that was about. The physical file got transferred but not the electronic. She put in a service request for it and said when the transfer happens she can review the application and approve it.
So the question is - what is with this electronic transfer? anyone has any information on this?
What should I do other than waiting to get the file transferred electronically? I already raised numerous service requests and called many times to get to this situation of having an interview after address change and also wasted lot of time and now this.
Anyone has any suggestion please let me know.

    Thanks

Did you file online? Or on paper? From your account, it appears that the IO received the N400 but did not receive supporting documents and any files related to your A# (I.e., files connected to you LPR application, work permits, asylum app, or whichever other status you had). It is possible that some or all of these documents are in electronic form and were not transferred to the IO who interviewed you. Based on my understanding, the IO is required to review your entire history of interactions with USCIS and review all supporting documents before making a decision. Others who have more knowledge might chime in here, but your best bet is to wait for the officer to review the file. You can also call their service center in a few weeks if you have not heard by then.

      rjakani,
I am yet to go to interview but i am in a situation where i have to move out of state bcos of job and my application is already past 9 months so am comtemplating about using my friend address so that i will come back to do an interview in the state where i file instead using my out of state address because am afraid they might transfer my case to my new state which may delay my application more. Did you ask you case be moved to Dallas when u left Boston or the system did an automatic transfer? Let me know you thought on this . Thanks

This is not a good idea. Even after you get your citizenship, discrepancies like this can lead to denationalization. You can still travel and do the interview at the old place, but once you get approved they have to move your file to the new place and place you in line for interview. That's much safer.
