I am about to file my N400 and I have a question regarding tax returns. I had filed an extension for my 2017 tax returns and will be filing the actual tax returns by the end of this month. I have never defaulted on any of my tax returns.
On the N-400 form what should I answer for "Have you EVER not filed a Federal, State or local tax return since you became a lawful permanent resident?"
Since I did not file my tax returns in April, is it considered as "not filing" tax returns even though I filed for an extension?
Please advice.
PS: Mine is an employment based application, not sure if that makes any difference.
