Just my honest opinion, but I would NOT ask to have the oath-taking rescheduled.

I tell my students that they should be available for whatever date is given, unless there is a family emergency. Vacations don't count.
The reason is that you are NOT a citizen unless you go to the oath ceremony and take the oath.

I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice.

I would very, very highly recommend not rescheduling this. You shouldn't reschedule any USCIS appointment bar a life or death situation in which you physically cannot attend. In this case, this is the FINAL step to citizenship, you surely don't want to risk having to wait perhaps months more for this.

listen to the other responders. don't reschedule, go to the oath ceremony you have been scheduled, get your citizenship, and then do whatever else you need to do.
This is strictly an opinion and should not be misconstrued as legal advice. The use of this information is strictly at your own risk.

I would never reschedule this oath taking for anything unless is a medical emergency. Oh, it also depends on how much you really need the citizenship.

At this point in time, I cannot do anything because I am out of the country to visit my sick father. I received my oath schedule when I was already in the plane . My friend checks my mail and got it for me .during the interview I have mentioned it to the interviewer and he assured me that it?s ok to travel unfortunately my oath was scheduled on aug 13 and I am arriving on the 16th. So what I did is, have my sister in state mail it back to the Chicago USCIS where I was interviewed , attaching a printed copy of my email letter explaining why I cannot attend and requesting for change of Oath date , authorization for my sister , copy of stamped passport ( exit and arrival ), boarding pass and travel itinerary. All I can do right now is wait and hope that the outcome will still be positive 🙏

You will still be able to attend an oath ceremony, it's just a matter of how long it will take them to do this, as sometimes rescheduling causes huge delays - not always, but it does happen. Let us know when you do receive a rescheduled appointment though! Good luck.

Finally @ got the resched oath

Original oath : August 13 but unable to attend due to trip outside US - mailed back the actual oath letter appt, together with my email for reason not being able to attend, copy of travel docs, stamp on passport
One week after aug 13 - got a notice Form 797-C stating that due to unforeseen circumstances , they had cancel the
previously scheaduled Oath ceremony . And it says they they will advise me of any further action on the case

Today Sept 8 ( after approx almost 4 weeks ) ,my status online has changed that says my oath ceremony has been scheduled . I am just waiting for the actual letter . It says to call them if not received by Oct 7 , so I assumed that My oath will be within 2 weeks from now .
