(NY-based) My uncle (65yo) is planning to apply for his citizenship. We have all the forms filled out but I'm just so panicky about certain issues...
1) He has been in USA since 1980 and in the mid-80s, there were 2 years he did not file taxes and then from late 90s to early 00s, he did not file for taxes because he was not meeting the threshold for filing. He has been doing taxes every year since 2002 even though his income has been below filing threshold still, its just been a matter of needing to for other issues. Will this be an issue at the interview?
P.S. is there a way to find out all the years, someone has filed or is USCIS concerned with the last 5 years?
2) I just read about the proposal of deporation of GC holders who use public assistance - he is on medicaid and using this as a means of acquiring a fee waiver....do you think this will be an issue too?
Thanks!
