  • Marriage Based Citizenship time

    Hi Everyone,

I have a conditional Green Card based on marriage to a US Citizen. Next month, I will be eligible to remove conditions (Form I-751) . I read some blogs that state that the processing time for I-751 is 9 - 12 months.

    I have 2 questions -

    1. Can I apply the 2 years of Conditional Green Card towards the three years of Green Card before filing for US citizenship?

    2. If I-751 processing takes more than 12 months, can I still apply for US Citizenship or do I have to wait for my conditions to be removed?

    Thanks

    1. yes
    2. yes, and in fact applying for naturalization might help speed up your Removal of Conditions

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.
