  • local Resident for 3 months

    Hello,

We live in a state which has 3 field offices for processing N400.

We will be eligible for citizenship in June 2019. Our local field office has processing time of almost 2 years. But another field office which is couple of hours from our current house has timeline of 6 months.

    Question:

    1. Can we just rent a house in the faster field office zone and apply for citizenship from there?

We will still be within the same state but a different city.

Please let me know if anybody has done it and if there is any risk involved.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

from my own experience i would rent a place in the field office that has a faster processing times. Go to the website and put in the zipcode it will tell you exactly the field office in charge of your zip code. This is the smartest way to go to avoid long wait.

Thank you for the quick response. Is it legal to do since technically we will only be renting a place but not living there.

Did you do something similar to this? If so how did the interview go?

      Thank you.

I thought when you say you are renting it means you are living there. I would not rent a place just to process. I meant living in a zipcode that process faster. if you are not gonna live there then what is the point?
