  • When can I apply for citizenship?

    Here is my situation:
Green Card Date: 1st June 2009
I entered the US with my family on that day. I stayed for 2 months.

I stayed outside of US for most of the time (for studies and work) with occasional short trips to US to visit family. Any stay outside of US for more than 1 year was with a valid re-entry permit (I had taken 2 of those between 2010 and 2014). Maximum I stayed in US was for a period of 6 months, with various shorter trips of 1-2 months each. I moved back permanently on 1st Nov 2015. I have been here since then (with a couple of short trips outside of US).

Can I apply for citizenship based on the 4 year 1 day rule, in or around November 2019? Note: I never had a long stay (1 year or more) in US before Nov 2015.

Or do i need to apply after 4 years 9 months?

    Thanks

so from Nov 2015, you never had long trips out of the USA? what was the max time out of the USA since then?

If no long trips after Nov 2015, you can apply using 4 years 1 day rule. so Nov 2019 would be a good time for you to start applying
