Hello Everyone,
Both my wife and me were arrested for shoplifting $206 dollars in CT in 1999. It was a big mistake and both of us repent and we do not violate any laws from that day. We do not have any skirmishes with the law after the above incident other than a speeding ticket. We were take to police station and were fingerprinted. That time we went to Criminal lawyer and he got us the disposition as "Nolle".
We paid fine to Red-Cross.
After which we gave court disposition certficate and got Green Card.
The disposition certificate says "Non-Disclosable Nolle" Now we are applying for Citizenship.
We did mention that we were arrested. I did the State Criminal background History check and
it did not show any entries for arrests or conviction records.
I was told that USCIS checks only past 5 years
history.
Will this incident cause any problems for our Citizenship? Since we got GC with disposition, are we safe for Citizenship also?
Thank you
