  • Alerts and warnings in N400 online form

    Hi all!

I found interesting table that shows logic behind alerts and warnings in electronic N400 form.

Excel table can be downloaded by link: https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/Do...ectID=65455302
or found on fallowing resource: https://www.reginfo.gov/public/do/PR...06&icID=218377
    Maybe someone find it helpful.

When I filed N400 section with list of place I lived during last 5 years, I showed multiple trips for 5 to 5.5 months long for first 2.5 years and address of campus where I physically stayed abroad during my study. When list were filed I've got an alert: "You may not meet the continuous residence requirement. If you left the United States for more than a year during last 5 years, you may have broken your continues residence."
But I have never leaved the US for more than 6 months.

The logic of this alert I found in table is same as for 6 months to 1 year absence:

"Address country ≠ United States AND dates of residence lasted ≥ 6 months < 1 year in the last 5 years OR
Single trip ≥ 6 months < 1 year in the last 5 years."
    _

I don't understand why it treats two separate trips duration of 5.5 months in the same year as one long 1 year trip?
Also at the end the form requests me to upload Application to Preserve Residence for Naturalization - form N-470, that I don't see how can be applicable in my case.
