  • Experience Travel out of country after Naturalization interview

I need to travel out of states after naturalization interview if the oath date is delayed significantly. The law say that you need to be continuously residence till the oath ceremony - which means that you can break this clause if you stayed outside for 6 or more months. Obviously that will not happen. They have to give decision within 120 days in worse case or we can sue them.

I guess we have to mention if you travel outside in the form. How do they handle this? Is -194 print out good enough to prove that duration I was not outside was more than 6 months? Please share your experiences.

Of course, you may do as you wish. This is all your decision and no one else's.

Keep in mind that you are not a citizen until you go to the swearing in ceremony and take the official oath. This could be a concern if you can not get back into the U.S. for whatever reason in time for the actual ceremony.
Your gamble. Would I take a gamble? No.
Do other people? Yes. I am just saying that things can happen that can interfere with your citizenship during that time.

    Good luck.

In my view, if it would be asked, it would have been asked during the interview. But in my case, it was not asked at all - I took three trips between my priority date and my interview, each only for a week though. I'm also traveling after my interview, waiting for my oath, but this time longer - three months. But the oath is making it complicated because I don't know what name I should use to book the ticket (my case is with a name change - regretted it but too late now).
