I am posting this on behalf of my sister.
My sister was born in the US and then my parents moved back to India. She was registered as a citizen in India and currently possesses an Indian passport and resides in India. Now, she is planning to apply for a US passport from the US consulate in Hyderabad and then apply for the OCI card. My questions are:
1. Once she receives her US passport and until she receives her OCI card, what is her status in India. I am guessing she cannot work while in the interim period, but are there chances for any other issues.
2. In order to apply for OCI card from India, one needs a foreign passport and a valid visa. However, she wouldn't have a visa (of course). How does one go around that ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
