Myself and my wife had citizenship interview today and got final approval pending Oath ceremony which is schduled on 09/18/2006. Here is what happned today.
We reached Dept of Homeland Security office 20 minutes earlier than the scheduled Interview time. After we were thru checkpoint, We were asked to drop the appointment Letter at the Dropbox. Within 5 minutes I was called in by a Lady officer. She was very courteous, polite and I had nice conversation all along. Before Starting of the whole Process I was asked to pledge to speak truth, nothing but truth. I said I do. Then she gone thru my whole application basically checking each section of the N-400 application. I was surprised to see all documents since I came to US 12 years go was there with the officer. I even saw my complete H1 Approvals, tax docs, Birth Affidavits etc I provided during GC Processing. She asked following questons I think these questions were randomly picked by computer.
1. Does people in Vermont vote for President?.. Isn't this tricky..Well.. People wont vote for President
2. What is the Ship Name pilgrims came in 1700s?.. Mayflower
3. Colors in the Flag -- Blue, White and Red
4. Which contry we got Independence from? England
5. What are branches of Goverment ? Executive, Legislative and Judiciary
6. Vice Pesident Name?. Richard Cheney
As I answered all questions she asked me to speak a sentence and write small sentence on the paper. After this she pronounced that she approved my application and shuld atend for oath on 09/18/2006. She handed over me N-445 ( Notice of Naturalization oath ceremony ) and N-652 ( Naturalization Interview results). Then she walked me out of the office. Overall it took about 20 minutes I guess. It was very pleasant.
For my wife it took about 10 to 15 mins. They asked different questions but almost all of them are from the standard 100 questions.
