I came to the U.S. when I was 24 as a permanent resident but was unaware that I had to register with Selective Service. I am now 29 and trying to obtain my citizenship, I have already passed the civics test but I have been requested to obtain some kind of letter from the Selective Service, what are the chances my application will be approved? How do I go about to obtain the letter?

Need help
Hello,
I see you are talking about selective service. Here is my case..I have my interview next month. so, please help.
I came to US in H1 visa before I turned 24 years(in 1998).
Now I got citizenship interview coming up next month. What do i regarding my selective service?
I noticed a website where you can give you last name, other details and check if you are registered. I checked and it says I am not registered.
Does this mean I have chances of not being approved? Please help.

Originally posted by posttoforumsHi, Thanks. I read the requirements in sss.gov.
So, I was here before 26 years in a H1-B visa. So, I think from their requirements I don't have to register. I don't have to do anything from now till my interview.
Please reply back that my understanding is correct.
Thanks Again.Disclaimer: The information you obtain from me at this forum is not, nor is it intended to be, legal advice. You should consult an attorney for individual advice regarding your own situation.

Originally posted by PraetorianXIIt is not a new requirement. Again, check www.sss.gov and it affects ANY kind of application for citizenship, whether permanent residency was gained through employment or family relationship.
