  • Can I be resident in 2 countries?

I am a citizen of India. I have green card in US. But I would also like to have residency in Australia instead of just a work visa. Is this possible? Can I get re-entry permit for US if I am not able to make 6 months stay in US?

And this is due to work reasons.

you can't hold a full indian citizenship when you become an US citizen.

however, you can apply for indian overseas citizenship thereafter. note that american governmen on their travel.state.gov has cleverly worded note clearly showing that they discourage such dual citizenships.

of course, if you're hold an indian dual (overseas) citizenship, american government cannot protect you against indian laws when you're charged in india or even arrested.
