  • ---Help Please---N400 Receipt with Exception-but what More do USCIS need?--

    Dear All

I applied for N-400 though marrying a USA Citizen. I qualified and provided all evidence, 2 photos, w2, tax retunrs, joint asset, and fee of $400 was cashed by USCIS in California Service Center. I live in Fremont, CA (close by San Francisco,CA). I have no traffic ticket.

Today, I got a notice of Action and indicated that USCIS received my n-400 application WITH EXCEPTION.

Here is the text from my notice (I-797 Notice of Action)
The above application has been received by our office and is in process, but has been noted with one or more of the following exception(s):
Missing Evidence(s) - your application was missing evidence(s) that you will need to provide at the time of your naturalization interview. You will be notified under separate notice of the necessary evidence(s) that you will be required to bring to your interview. Do not submit any evidence(s) by mail.

    4 Quesions:
Q1-Anybody got this kind of receipt with Expection?

Q2-For those who did get a "Receipt with Exception", Did you later got a separate notice of the necessary evidence(s) that you will be required to bring to your interview?

Q3-What did the separate notice say to bring?

Q4-if you went through your N-400 through California Service Center and San Francisco, kindly list your dates since sent-in your N-400?

Thank you and this means a lot to me.

    Thanks
    Ray

    relax....

...you are fine. It's mostly about selective services. were u under 26 when u got ur gc? every1 gets that exception...but as long as u don't have to get the SS certificate, you are ok.

      hi kkboy

Got my Greencard when i was 30 yr old. I came to the USA in 1993 as F1--->H1 in 1999->PR in 2004-3 (marrying USC in 2002-11)
So I am not subject to SS, correct?

Did anyone got N400 "receipt with exception" letter? Then another letter requesting something they had already provided?

      Thanks

My wife received the "with exception" letter as I believe most, if not all, people receive. She was never sent a follow-up letter asking for anything else nor did they ask her for anything else at her interview in February. As kkboy said, you should be fine.

          thank you, all
I have a FP appt next week, but i don't have the 10 yr GC, (USCIS mailed to my old address after i updated the address on my i-751 and AR-11 1 month prior to making the GC)
so i will show my i-551 stamp on passport and see if they will take it

I have faith in Gods help too. Just trying to guess what will happen makes me nuts

Ray, I just received the same notice today...."with exception"...

Did you ever receive another NOA listing what "missing documents" the USCIS needed? If not, I'm thinking "with exception" is just another standardized letter! Keep us updated!

              missing doc--San Francsico Experiences, anyone?

i did not get another doc outlining what document I am missing...but i know a femal who also live in Fremont, and she did not get an exception.....so i know it is not standard to see "exception"

Any one has experiences when interviewing in San Francisco with a receipt with Expeption, please speak out...
