when can I file for citizenship

Hi,
I got my greencard july,2002. I left USA with reentry permit on aug,2002. I came back to USA on jan,2004.
Am I eligable to file on Jan,2008 or Oct,2007?

As far as I understand the rules, you will be eligible in January 2009.....because of your long absence (more than one year within the last 5 years)

But I could be mistaken, maybe there are exceptions.....
