Citizenship Interview & Travel

Hi,
Presently an Indian passport holder.Have my US citizenship interview date scheduled for mid-July however am to travel to India on vacation in Aug. Will it be possible to travel on my Indian passport considering that I may not be able to get the US passport within such a short time? What is the best solution to this?

You cannot travel on Indian passport (until you get your US passport) after taking the oath. If you are not going to take the oath at the time of your interview, you can opt for oath date after coming back from your vacation. Let the officer know that you are planning to travel after the interview and before taking the oath and schedule your oath date accordingly.

Thank you so much for your response. Just so I understand correctly - at/after the interview I can request for the oath ceremony to be postponed to a later date. This will permit me to travel on my Indian passport and re-enter on my GC.
Would I be right in assuming that requesting for a postponement of the oath ceremony is an acceptable standard procedure for the USIS-interviewer/officer and I should not fear of being turned down?
