If you have very long names ask the immigration officer at the interview which names to use and your concern about the available space to sign before signing the actual certificate.
You will be ok.
Good luck!Disclaimer:Not legal advise! Use at your own risk.

discrepancy
there is a major discrepancy on how different offices handle the "signature" part.
one thing is for sure, you have to write your name in full, now it may be "running" handwriting or it can be all caps if you need to be neat
some offices insist you do the same on the photo in the certificate also, while other offices do not
writing your name on the photo (on the side only) will be helpful and not hurt anything
remember to apply for your u.s. passport immediately as there is a backlog here too.
also note that may usps centers need appointments which are not available for weeks.
we got our appointment a few weeks before we went for our final interview. we had scheduled the appointment at usps the next day after the interview/oath. that way we were able to apply for the u.s. passports the very next day we got our naturalization certificates.
***note*** usps takes your original naturalization certificate when you apply for the passport. make sure you color scan the certificate in high resolution and save the image on your home pc and laptop while also making a couple of copies, just in case.
congratulations

Sign the photo
You can sign the photo with the same signature that you used to sign the certificate.
If you've used all caps, then do the same, either way be consistent.
Be sure to keep scanned image and copies of your certificates.
If you've not already done so, do apply for your U.S. passport as if you for any reason lose your certificate, it'll be a nightmare to get a duplicate.
Best wishes.

Good question.
The idea is that you sign on the certificate and the photo in front of the USCIS officer immediately after the interview before your oath when the cert is handed to you.
You should not have any problems if you don't sign the photo. However, just in case this is a requirement by any agency for any reason then they will require you to have the photo signed in front of a judiciary member only. That may probably cost you valuable time.
Hope this answers your question.

Signed Certificate in Blue Ink and normal signature for checks
Uh oh. I attended one of these mass citizenship Oath Ceremonies in LA with 3400 other people. When my certificate was given to me, there was no mention of signature instructions
As I now read into this, I signed the document legibly in blue roller ball ink and using First name, Middle Initial, Last name (instead of writing out my full middle name)
What are the repercussions of having done this and what is the resolution?
I had to sign it quickly at a Post Office to send in my application for passport
