    Employment outside US okay?

    Rocky,
Did you consult a lwayer at all? Would the fact that one had employment outside US result in denial? I read a guide in which it says that for an absence of between 6 months and one year they can make a rebuttable presumption that you have abandoned permanent residence. One way to rebutt the presumption is to show that you did not take up employment overseas. Can the same apply for absences less than 6 months? And in fact if you had employment overseas then coming to US can be considered as vacation rather than continuous residence.

Got a re-entry permit before leaving

I did not consult a lawyer.

You have a valid point. However, I did declare to USCIS that I will be gone for a long duration 18-20 months before I left the US due to family reasons. It turned out to be different issue that I ultimately ended up making short business trips back to the US which kept my continuous residence active.

The fact that I took a re-entry permit itself is proof enough that I did not "intend" to give up my residence and I always was planning to come back to the US. I guess that is the whole point of re-entry permit.

        Employment information

        Rocky,
Even on employment information have you provided locations where you made business trips? During the time I was working back home I made 1 trip to Chicago, 2 trips to Dallas and 1 to Cupertino.

          Yes

I only mentioned the employer and the address where I was working abroad. I did not see any reason to mention the locations/addresses of the clients because they were not my "employers". Like I mentioned in my earlier posting I did mention my addresses where I lived during those business trips in the section where the application form asks you to provide all the addresses where you have lived in the past 5 years.

            Which service center?

            Rocky,
I see you are still waiting for FP letter. When did you send in your application and to which service center? Do you know if it is better for couple to file together? Will they be interviewed together?
