  • Application Receipt NOT received

    Hi,

I sent my citizenship application to the Vermont Service Center by USPS Priority mail( with Tracking ). According to USPS, the mail reached the service center on Aug 13th. But, so far, I have not received the receipt.

Is this unusual to have more than 2 weeks delay? Can I call somebody to verify?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Prakash

Take a look at this post: http://www.immihelp.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31435
It seems that they will take about month to generate your receipt.
My N-400 was mailed on 8-20-07, and I am waiting...

                  My path to citizenship...

I mailed my application in on Feb. 18, 2007.

Check cleared my bank Feb. 28, 2007

Fingerprints in early April 2007, second set late April 2007.

Interview July 2, 2007, where I was told to submit my own police report since my fingerprints are so awful.... (I was told they may be damaged by chemicals, probably - something like cleaning my house with cleaning solutions too much!!! - - - YES, I have a spotless house.... NOT!)

Late July 2007, sent my police report in, got reply that I needed a report from CALIFORNIA since they said that I had lived there during the past five years, too. I have NOT, since I have worked hundreds of miles away from California and showed up to that work place every day for the past 7 1/2 years. So I wrote a short, but to the point letter telling immigration that I have lived here, in this area, for the past 15 years. I also sent proof of my addresses for the past 20 years, which shows NO residency in California, ever.

Then finally, a week ago, to my great surprise and pleasure: a letter telling me that my oath of allegiance ceremony is coming up on Friday Sept. 7, this year.

Perhaps it takes longer now, though, because they are supposedly raising the fee to apply for citizenship this fall by $ 200. I think many, like myself, decided to beat that higher fee, and I got in at the beginning of that rush.

Note that I don't know that for sure, but am just guessing. I am reading here that many seem to be waiting a long time for reply from the USCIS. I think it may be that rush to beat the higher price...

                      Just called USCIS

I called the USCIS regarding not receiving my Receipt Notice as yet and was informed that due to the July 30th fee increase rush, it is taking upto 90 days for the receipt notices to be sent out.

However, I was also told that it wasn't that the whole process is being delayed. I was told that the fp appointment letters are still being sent out with a month of USCIS receiving the application and that if I don't receive my letter by Thursday I should call them back.

As FYI..I mailed my application on the 6th of August to VSC.
