Hi all, I just found this web site, and now I hope somebody can tell me how long the oat of allegiance ceremony is. My employer is graciously giving me time off to go for my big date Friday the 7, and I would like to be able to tell them how long this will take.
Before anybody says: "yeah, your employer really SHOULD give you the time off, so what's the big deal?" I want to explain why I am saying my employer is gracious about this: I am taking an intensive class to learn how to operate light rail, and normally they do not allow any time away from those classes for the first five weeks. I start my training Tuesday after Labor Day. The teacher of the class will work with me when I get back from the oath ceremony to catch up and to get ready for a big test Friday after the rest of the class has taken the test. We'll be tested every Friday, and have to pass by 85 % to go on from week to week.
So, instead of my asking USCIS for another date for my oath, I can take it in a week. But HOW long is the ceremony? I would really like to give my employer some idea of how long I will be gone from the class that day. I live in a city of about 500 000, so I am not sure how many will take the oath with me. I assume that the more people, the longer the ceremony takes? I also assume that in a big city like for example Los Angeles there would be many more taking the oath at each ceremony than here in a much smaller city. Am I right???
When I called USCIS today, they could not answer my question...
