  • What are my chances

My wife and I complete our 5 year anniversary (since green card) on June 25, 2008 which makes us eligible to apply for citizenship on March 25, 2007. I have a fantastic offer to work in Hong Kong which I’ll need to start in early January. My wife and I can make frequent trips back to the states. If I were to go on a short term assignment say from Jan to early March, then come back and apply for citizenship, perhaps even wait for finger printing and then both my wife and I return to Hong Kong and come back for the interview. Is this allowed under the law? Your help would be most appreciated. My company is also willing to keep me on the US payroll until I resolve this

Yes, as long as you maintain your continuous resident requirements.

So in other words you dont need to be physically present in the US after applying for but before receiving citizenship correct?
