How do I know when my five(5) years period is ended to apply for Citizenship?

Hi All,

How do I know when my five(5) years period is ended to apply for Citizenship? where is the start date come from?
is it the date on green card as "Residence Since"?? even thoung I am physically present before the that date as mentioned
on green card?
Please someone help me, Thanks a lot.

It does not matter for naturalization even if you are present in US before GC. Eligibility date for US citizenship (naturalization) start from the day you become permanent resident of US. The date mentioned on your GC with 10-years expiration date of card (not your permanent residency).
It is privilege for US citizen’s spouse to apply citizenship after 3-years of marriage. All other people are eligible for citizenship after 5-years of being permanent resident of US.
Irrespective of ways people received GC, they can apply within 90-days when they are approaching their 3-years or 5-years naturalization requirement.

Hi, thanks for answer.
GC has two dates:
#1. Expiration date
#2. Date of Residence Since.

so should I use #1 or #2 to find out my 5 years duration?

Count 5 years from the "Resident since" date.
