Dear Immigration Officer,
I appreciate the hard work and dedication you give to our great country.
Question: My wife wants to become an American. When my wife's application for naturalization is in the system, will she still have the same rights to travel abroad as she does now with her green card? We will be applying in Hawaii, and want to travel for a while before moving to my parents place in Florida - they're old, my father has cancer (in remission), and my mother needs assistance.
Intention: We will be here for three months after applying, and would like to visit her parents in Tokyo. Afterwards we would like to continue to Australia, and Europe for about 6 months before settling town to care for my parents.
Do we just send in a change of address to Florida before we leave, and continue waiting for a call to interview there? Would it be easier for us to come back to Hawaii for the interview? (A good excuse to see friends here again, and the wait time to interview might be less - maybe?). Or ??? Please, a little assistance.
History: I met my wife while teaching English in Japan. My wife and I have been married for 15 years, with a 6 year old daughter who has a U.S., and Japanese passport.
Hiromi, my wife, has had her green card now for over three years, and has decided that she is much more taken with the United States than she thought she would be, and would like to become an American.
Sincerely,
I appreciate the hard work and dedication you give to our great country.
