Me and my wife had interview on Jan 17,2008 at Newark office and we are traviling india on Jan 23rd and returning on Feb16th. Question that i have is

    1. Should we both take oath and get naturalization certificate same day? If YES then if i take an appointment at New york or Philadelphia passport agency on Jan 18th, will we be able to get US passport on 18th and then apply for indian visa so i can travel on 23rd OR
    2. Should we attend interview and request officer to delay oath ceremony for a month and then complete rest of procedure

I appreciate your help and suggestion in this matter.

    Thank you

    Suggest postponing the oath taking!!

Indian consulate informs that your need at least 4 business days to get India Visa. your situation may or maynot qualify you for emergency visa. Since visa processing has been outsourced recently, i hear it has not become smooth and stream lined yet. Moreover, You may want to think about getting a OCI or PIO card instead of spending for visa several times.
