  • Documents for Selective Services Letter

    Hi,

My husband received a receipt with exception for missing evidence so he is applying for the Status Info Letter from Selective Services just to be safe

He came to US on an H1-B before he turned 26 and we got our green card when he was 30.

Does anyone know what documents are required to send along with the Selective Svcs request?

The SSL site is not very clear on what exact docs are needed

    Thanks.

I am in the similar situation.

I got my Green Card when I was 26 Years and 10 Months old, hence was not required/qualified to register but I am not sure what documentation is needed in this case.

      Any ideas?

Well, after noticing a lot of conflicting messages about any direction on this document, I decided to mail whatever I could to Selective Services and see if I get a response back.

        1. Downloaded the PDF, printed, filled it in.
        2. Put in a letter addressed to the officer, requesting the status information document with an explaination of my situation (same as in the PDF).
        3. A copy my Green Card (Front+Back),
        4. A copy of _all_ pages of my passport (for the visas as well as entry/exit stamps in India and Entry stamps in the US)
        5. A copy of the welcome Letter I received with my green card.

I was getting a little worried about not hearing from them for 4 weeks but today I got the letter in the mail. It says that based on the information I provided, I was on a legal, non-immigrant status till I turned 26 and hence was not required to register with the selective services.

I hope this information helps others who are looking for more details on obtaining this letter.
