hello,
my exwife and i applied for and received our greencards together through her employer. We have been divorced for 5yrs now. I appllied for citizenship a year ago and am now awaiting my interview. As a part of the documents that i submitted with my citizenship application, i sent a photocopy of a translation of the divorce letter (as the original one was in a different language). All i have is a photocopy of the translation, i do not have an original of the divorce document nor its original translation, all i have is a photocopy of the translation.
Would it be ok to show the interview official/s just this photocopy of the translation? or do i even need to show this document for the interview (since its not like my wife was a citizen or a greencard holder at the time i married her, she applied for the greencard through her work and we received our greencards at the same time as I was her spouse)? it would be almost impossible for me to try to get hold of the original documents as my exwife has them and we are no longer in touch. At the time of the divorce i did not give much thought to the importance of gathering/obtaining such documents.
Also do i need to submit proof of last 3 years tax filing? ( this is not a problem for me since i can get this information from the IRS but i'm curious if i need to provide the interviewer with this information).
any insight on the above matters would be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Immi
