  • Apply for family (parents and brothers) Citizenship

    Hello,

Thanks in advance for any information for my question.

I will be applying for citizenship for me and our wife in couple of months.

Somebody told us that when we apply we can also apply for our parents and brothers citizenship at the same time. They are residing in India.

But reading thru articles it seems that I can apply for Green Card for my parents and brothers once I get my citizenship. I just want more clarification as to what can be done and whats the sequence in which I can get GC or citizenship for parents and brothers.

Any information on this matter will really help me

    Thanks,

You DO NOT apply for ANYONE else's citizenship.

    Only your own.

However, you can "sponsor" and "petition" other people for a GC.

As a Green Card holder... you can not petition anybody (except for children and spouse).

As a Citizen, you can sponsor your parents, children and siblings (and for the last two, their dependents). BUT, you must wait until you are actually granted citizenship (oath day).

There are several different wait times for a visa number to be available for your family members... depending on their age, relationship to you and their marital status. You can read more here: https://www.immihelp.com/family-base...ard/index.html
