Citizen Interview - Additional File

Hi All:

I finished my interview at the Atlanta office recently. I passed the civics/english exam, but was told that they cannot make the final determination since an "additional file" was due in their office from an other office.

Has anybody run into this? The Officer wrote this ie.,additional file on the N-652 form. She would not elaborate on which file etc. I also asked her if it was from the FBI, thinking that it could be the dreaded Name Check.

I was told the same thing. No letter from USCIS yet. It has been 7 weeks since the interview.

No, in Baltimore. Have you still not heard from USCIS?

NO not yet. I dont know what it means when they say additional file.

Hope things will work out for you. I suggest that you make an appointment and go see them. I plan on doing in the next two weeks.

I thought of taking an appointment then left it because the form they gave me at the time of interview says 'if you case is not decided for in 120 days then you have a right to hearing"..

I am hoping to get something in writing in next 2 months.

Please let me know the outcome of your appointment or if you get some letter before that.

I got my Notice for the oath ceremony. I hope you got yours as well.

Same Boat

I went to Chicago office this month. The whole process took about 15 minutes. The officer however told me, there was another file in the building. She would review it that afternoon and take a descision. She said dont be alarmed! That my file appeared to be very clean. I would receive either a oath ceremony notice or another different type of notice within 2 - 3 weeks.

Chand.. I hope you got your oath notice. BTW, my oath was completed and I got my Certificate of Naturaliation. Everything went fine except for the long wait. There were a lot of people (~148) who took the oath.

I am preparing to apply for the passport. Next steps.. passport and then OCI. I hope that will be the end of this long saga...

I went to Baltimore for the interview this morning, everything went well. I even got the letter for the afternoon's ceramony. Just before the ceramony, there is another officer called me and told me that I have this problem...

She also said it could take 3-6 month for them to bring 2 files together, and there is nothing we can do about it. The only way to check the status is through Infopass. God, it just take forever to go through this!

Is there any good news for anybody? Please share it with us. Just want to get some ideas about how long may take them to process this.
