Hello,
My husband and I got citizenship few days back.Our elder son who is under 18 and was born in India. He has green card. We were assuming that he will get citizenship automatically, because we are citizens.I made several calls to USCIS to be more sure. I was told that I should apply for him by filing form N-600 and when i ask why,they told me that may be my son would needed citizenship number in future, so he would apply for citizenship. I don't understand what is the use of citizenship number. Has anybody ever sailed in the same boat like us? Please help! What should we do? Do we have to apply for N-600?

I was in the same situation. Did not apply for N-600. Just applied for the my daughters passport along with ours. It was accepted and she got her passport.
