Citizen - SSN for Child

Hello:

As parents we have naturalized to US Citizenship last week, However, to apply for my kid's passport, I should've taken an SSN # for the kid, but forgot. Now my kid is a Permanent Resident and the process for the SSN will take over a month to get and then the passport would take another month. We need to travel to India in the next 2 weeks, so can the parents travel as citizens while my kid would travel on GC. Does anyone know if my kid can travel and return on the GC?

It is possible for the kid to travel as a permanent resident even if the parents are citizens. Has the kid also gone through naturalization? If so, the PR should no longer be used.

Thank You. No the Child has not naturalized, but I believe with the new law passed by Bush administration the child automatically becomes a citizen, once the parents naturalize.
