  • Waiting for Oath and intending to travel

    Dear All,

thanks for your help so far. I was interviewed on 4/15 and the officer told me I was clear for an oath (handed me a letter saying my case was approved). I have yet to receive a letter for oath He told me :

a ) if I don't hear about it in 60 days, I should contact USCIS

b ) it's no problem if I intend to travel before taking the oath. He said that not taking oath doesn't jeopardize your case.

My question is, how exactly does that work? meaning do I have to notify the INS that I'm going to be traveling? Or, do I just ignore their notices and after coming back, contact them that I'm available?

    thanks in advance,

    travel after interview

There is no problem to travel abroad after you finish you interview. You do not have to submit any documents to USCIS about the travel. However, when you get your oath taking notice, they will ask you about any travel after the interview. You have to mention that during that time. Other than that no problems...

thanks for the helpful reply. What if I couldn't receive the oath letter? for instance, I withheld the mail at the postoffice while I was gone? do they care if I don't have a notice on me (is it similar to other milestones like GC interview where if you didn't respond in time you are sent to the back of the queue?)
