For those of you interested in requesting a name change with your naturalization application, your citizenship is not necessarily going to be delayed because of it. My son has received the interview and oath appointments right on time, and everything went really smoothly. He had applied one month after I did, and he was right on track with all steps about one month behind me. The process may be different depending on the service center, but I just wanted to share our experience at the CSC (southern California). He only changed his first name slightly, I don’t know if that made any difference.
