Can I Get My Citinzenship Or Not??

I filled the I751 form to remove conditions in my residency. They sent me a letter extending my residency for one year. That year ended last week, so I went to the immigration office to get my passport stamped and I got another 1 year extension. The officer who helped me there told me that I should apply for citizenship because that would force immigration to review my case faster.. I have been here for three years and married to a citizen for 4 years but I haven't receive my permanent residency, yet. Is true that I can apply now? Why are they taking so long to resolve my case? PLEASE RESPOND ME! THANKS!!
