Citizenship Dilema help help plz!!!!!!!!

We r planning on returning to india in feb 2009. but we r eligible to apply for citizenship in aug 2009 ( if 90days prior is ok then May 2009). Do we need to stay here is US apply and get the Citizenship and then move or Can we just apply and leave come back for interview, fingerprint and oat ( make couple of trips like every 2 months or so)

or just move in feb and comeback in may or aug apply stay till we get citizenship and move back to india . we r in dilema . plz i need some inputs and suggestions. appreciate it

You can apply 90 days before your eligibility period, but you still need to complete your stay in the United States and fulfill the requirements.

If you have no intention of living in the US, don't bother applying for citizenship.

What on earth are you thinking? Citizenship is more than a piece of paper. You are stealing the opportunity from someone who really WILL be a citizen.

Don't forget that you will have to file income taxes on your worldwide income.

The reason ...

... most people from specific countries wait to become United States citizens before moving back home are:

1. They don't have to worry about keeping their GC valid by flying back here every so often

2. Get their SS upon retirement, which is good money especially as their countries' living costs are lower

3. The "doors" to US are always open for them and their progeny

I'm with you though, why get your GC and USC if you're not planning to live here anyway. But then, this is the way of the world.

don't bother for US citizenship.

your type of people want to become us citizens just to take advantage of benefits but citizenship is much more reponsiblities towards the country.
