  • citizenship for minor daughter

    Hi,
I am in the USA and I will get eligibility to apply for citizenship in May 2009. My wife and daughter are in India for the past 3 years with the second on-going re-entry permit. When I apply for citizenship, will my daughter get hers automatically. My daughter is studying in India. I am not a single parent.

    Thanks for the info.

    Regards

    Vijay

No, your daughter cannot become US citizen along with you as she was born (unless she born in US?) before you are going to be US citizen. She has to go through the process of Green card. So once, you become US citizen file I-130 and then 1-129F, which takes little less time to approve.
You can file I-130 form even now based on your GC but have to wait for I-129F till you become US citizen.
