  • Submitting N400 just prior to an india visit

    Hi,
I am planning to visit India before Jan 1st, and will not be back until Jan 31st.
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to file the N400 just before I leave, so that when I come back, I will be ready for the finger prints.

I will be filing with the Texas Center.
The downside is, if the date for finger prints is scheduled for sometime prior to Jan 31st, then I would be missing it and it needs to go thru re-scheduling the finger printing, etc.

Alternatively, would it be better if I just hang onto the application and submit it only after I come back ?

In looking thru the immitracker, I am seeing the receipt date, however, it is unclear on how long it takes from the point the application is mailed, till the TSC gives a receipt date ?

    Thanks in advance,

    In most cases ...

.. you should be okay. Even in the rare situation that they do send you the FP notice, they will give you 3 to 4 weeks of time, which should cover it.

In worst scenario, you can re-schedule the FP is you miss it. It will just delay your processing.

    Good luck.

From Immitracker, it seems that the time difference between the receipt date and the finger print appt date is about 4 weeks atmost.

What is the typical time difference between the actual mailing date, and when TSC marks the application as "RECEIVED" ?

      Thanks again,
