The FBI background check for naturalization is the same as what it was done during the LPR. For naturalization does the USCI focus only on the prior five/three year period before the N-400 application for good moral character or can they go beyond. Do I need to disclose unemployment benefit which I claimed eight years ago. Do I need to furnish tax returns for past five years. I thank you in advance.

Passed my citizenship test last week! So, let me attemp answering these questions, but don't count on them as final, OK?
1. FBI background check will go beyond 3-5 year period. They'll check your history.
2. Filling unemoyment benefit is not a crime! No need to disclose unless the application asks for it, which I don't remember there is one!
3. Tax returns: Yes. My case, I got 7 years of tax records to show. -

Do you mean they asked you to show 7 years of tax records? Did they ask for both Fed and State or just Federal tax records?Comment

They only require 3 yrs of federal tax returns. My wife just had her interview 3 weeks ago.Comment
